TX Twincreeks FarmLast Update: February 15, 2012

2011 News and HighlightsNovember I've been lax in updating this page lately. Things are pretty quiet on the farm, milking just 4 does, almost all the kids gone off to new homes and the shows over for the year. The only excitement is in the breeding pens where there is a lot of action and lots of eagerly anticipated kids in the making! Check out our Kidding Schedule! Also....as some of you may know our best goat friend and mentor for many years, Valerie Ciesynski (Russell) of Piddlin Acres has gone out of business and liquidated her herd. We are sad to see her go but extremely excited and grateful to be able to add animals representing some of the best of her breeding program to our herd. New to Twincreeks are: GCH PM Sun Flower *M, MCH/CH PV Tansy *D, MCH/CH WB Paprika, Jamboree, Fraulin and Chick Magnet. Tansy is being bred for spring 2012 kids, and Chick Magnet is servicing several of our does for spring kids. May It's been a successful show season so far. We've received official word from ADGA that Fancy Free is now a GCH, and our younger milkers have been showing very well. We have also received junior legs on Lunazul, Brown Betty and Oasis.
April It's been a very busy month so far with lots of kidding and our first show of the spring season. The Cibolo Class Dairy Goat Show in Decatur, TX was a large, very competitive show with outstanding animals all the way through every class. I was thrilled when TX Twincreeks FAX Fancy Free earned a Reserve Grand, 2 Grand Championships, and went on to win 2 competitive Champion Challenge classes. Assuming the paperwork all goes through Fancy Free should be a finished champion in AGS and ADGA, making her a 3rd generation AGS champion from that line. Our second freshening three year old, Maid of Honor, won her class twice and looked beautiful doing it. We also earned a junior leg on Lunazul and reserves on two of the babies, Pretty Monet and Sea Siren. It was a long, hot weekend but certainly worth it! February Finally received official notification from both AGS and ADGA of our One Day Milk Test results from January 13th. The girls did extremely well and we are very proud of them! The minimum points needed for ADGA are 7 and the minimum for AGS is 35 (based on those registries calculations) so with the exception of our first freshener Isabella they were all way over and above the minimum needed to star. We're confident Isabella will get there next time!
Just got word from the AGS office that one of our most important foundation bucks, Twin Creeks BH Bay Watch, has earned his "AR" in AGS, so is now ARMCH Twin Creeks Bay Watch ++*S. Bay Watch had a tremendous positive impact on our herd and across the country, and can be found in many generations of Nigerian Dwarfs.
January Started off our year the usual way with the Fort Worth Stock Show. We did quite well under judge Cathy Pindell, with Fancy Free winning Reserve Champion Senior Doe, Best Udder of Breed, and going on to win Best Udder in Show! Our little girls Cotton Blossom and Wine and Roses earned GCH and RsCH Junior does, and we won Breeders Trio and were second place Best Pair competing with all the big breeds. Nice way to start the year! |
