2007 News and Highlights

November

Well it's been a very busy year and we just wrapped up a wonderful fall kidding season. I haven't had the opportunity to do or participate in a one-day milk test for quite some time, but was able to have one here in November, officiated by Pat Fausett. I was very pleased that all 7 of the does that I tested earned their stars in AGS, and 6 of them in ADGA as well. I am particularly proud of my yearlings and two year olds who earned their stars, as well as MCH Black Dahlia who did 3.6 pounds of 6.4% BF at 9 years of age, and my high milker for the day, MCH/CH Twin Creeks ARG Mithril Silver 2*D who did 4.9 pounds of 6% BF milk at 55 days fresh.

April

We had our first ever ADGA Linear Appraisal on April 4th, under Steve Richter. What a fantastic learning experience, and what exciting results we had! Out of 26 adult animals appraised, TWELVE earned Excellent scores of 90 or above, with 9 others falling in the 85-89% range. I am just thrilled to death! Here are our top 20 animals:

March

Well I'm behind on updating anything for this year but the big news for March is that we tested our entire herd over 6 months of age for CAE, CL and Johnnes with Washington State University (WADDL) and were 100% negative for CL and Johnnes, and negative for CAE except for one old doe who tested "suspect", which was explained to us as basically a high-range negative. We will retest her in 30 days but she has tested negative multiple times throughout her lifetime, and came from a negative tested herd, so I'm not concerned. She's been out of the "baby business" for a couple of years in any case.
